Episode 1. Interviews on the Street
Hakim asks people in the street what they think is “typically Dutch”.

Episode 2. Grocery Shopping
An interesting look into what shoppers have in their shopping carts. Which products are typically Dutch? Peanut butter, cauliflower, licquorice, vanilla custard and so on.

Episode 3. Eating Herring
A herring should just slide down your throat. How? You’ll see how in this episode. Hakim visits a fish stall with some friends. Here they learn everything about the typical Dutch activity of eating herring.

Episode 4. Retirement Home
Getting older in the Netherlands often means that you will end up in a retirement home. Hakim goes to a retirement home and talks with the residents.

Episode 5. Dutch Food
Cauliflower with pap; real Dutch food. Hakim and his friends experience typical Dutch eating habits at a Dutch family’s table, such as mashing your food. And what do we do once everyone has finished eating?

Episode 6. Cycling
Everyone in the Netherlands learns to ride a bike at an early age. Many people who weren’t born here haven’t learned how to ride. That’s why there are cycling lessons for adults.

Episode 7. Pets
Many Dutch people have pets in their house. Cats are allowed on the couch and sometimes even on the bed. People spoil their pets as if they were children. Hakim visits a family with two huge dogs and talks to them about their pets.

Episode 8. Snacks
French fries, yummmmm! One with mayonnaise, the other with curry sauce. There are many more sauces that you could pick. A there are a lot of other snacks you could have at the snack bar apart from French fries. Hakim does a taste test.

Episode 9. Thriftiness
Cheeseplane, potato peeler, bottle scraper. In the Netherlands, even bread is sold in thin slices. What do you put on it? Thin slices of cheese… the Dutch are thrifty. Hakim sees this in the supermarket.

Episode 10. Volkstuintjes
Gardens in the Netherlands are usually well maintained. But what if you live in an apartment and don’t have a garden? Volktuintjes (People’s gardens) are the answer. Whether you want to grow your own fruit and vegetables, or just want a quiet place to sit.

Episode 11. Going Visiting
Hakim visits two families from different cultures. The Dutch biscuit barrel and a bowl full of delicacies are compared side by side.

Episode 12. Greetings Cards
In the Netherlands, it’s a custom to send people a card on special occasions: a birthday, graduation, a birth. A lot of greetings cards are also often sent for New Year's and Christmas.

Episode 13. Agenda & Planning
You can’t just drop in unexpectedly on someone. When people in the Netherlands make an appointment, they often use an agenda. And being punctual is very important. We see Hakim in different situations where time, planning and agenda play an important role.

Episode 14. Ice Skating
As soon as it gets colder, the Dutch pray for a harsh winter. Because that means they can ice skate again. Hakim has his first ice skating lesson, along with a few others.

Episode 15. Birthday
How are birthdays celebrated in the Netherlands? What are the customs? Cake with candles, presents are unwrapped immediately, and...the birthday calendar is hung in the toilet, of course.

Episode 16. Parental Participation
A primary school with out parent input? This is rare in the Netherlands. Hakim goes to a primary school where he meets parents who read to the class, watch the playground and babysit.

Hakim visits one of the stand-in St. Nicholas’s that are out and about in the Netherlands around December 5.
