The Dutch Royal Family

We Dutch love our royal family.  At least most of us do.  Last thursday, on Queensday, there was an attack on Queen Beatrix. Seven people died, including the offender. Fortunately our Queen and her family survived. Half an hour before a friend of me, who works at the national radio, tried to give queen Beatrix an iPod with music. And he succeeded. See how happy he is with his effort: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Twvp5TxvUlE . This video shows our respect  for the queen and her family. We are even proud to give her presents.

Queen Beatrix, when you read this:  all the best with the recovery of this tragedy. I hope Queensday will next year be like all the other years before. And I hope we will be able to give you a lot of presents instead of tragedies.

I'm from Russia but was on Queen's Day in Holland. I was watching TV in the morning and saw Beatrix and all family just walking in the park and talking to other people. And what surprised me is that there were no much police or guard surrounding queen and family.I asked my friend if there were measures against acts of terrorism taken. His answer was: "Why? Nobody's gonna attack her. We love our Queen". And then happened this.
We, Russian, learned our lessons from acts of terrorism in Moscow, in Beslan and now any mass actions take place with extra guard and police.
I hope that will never happen again no in Holland, neither in any other place. But there is much to think about

Most of my friends find it difficult to accept Holland to be a monarchy.
