Learn 2B Dutch Blog

Onder impuls van het Taaluniecentrum Nederlands als Vreemde Taal (NVT) hebben een aantal websites met leermiddelen Nederlands besloten de krachten te bundelen. In de nabije toekomst zullen de partners op zoek gaan naar mogelijke vormen van samenwerking en ondersteuning. Op die manier kunnen ze beter op elkaar aansluiten, een grotere naamsbekendheid en een beter bereik krijgen, en technologische en kwalitatieve vooruitgang boeken.

Het gaat om de volgende websites:
www.2BDutch.nl : Biedt video’s aan met ondertiteling in het Nederlands en verscheidene andere talen om taal en cultuur beter te leren kennen.
www.taalblad.be : Is een webkrant met actuele teksten waarbij Franse en Engelse vertalingen van moeilijke woorden worden gegeven. De site bevat ook een beetje luistermateriaal, grammaticale tips en oefeningen.
www.delathoogvoortalen.be (onderdeel van www.klascement.net / EduCentrum vzw) Dit is een uitwisselingsplatform waar materiaal voor en door docenten wordt verzameld en gedeeld, waaronder ook syllabi en interactieve oefeningen voor Nederlands als vreemde taal.
www.taalthuis.com : Biedt een basiscursus Nederlands aan, samen met een forum en chat. Het is een site waar gebruikers (docenten en studenten) elkaar kunnen helpen.

Deze websites zijn uit idealisme ontstaan en bieden hun diensten hoofdzakelijk gratis aan. Ondanks de verschillende aanpak zijn de websites uitgegroeid tot hoogwaardige, gestructureerde projecten, die hoge kwaliteitsnormen hanteren en die maandelijks vele tienduizenden bezoekers verwelkomen.
 
De partners zijn ervan overtuigd dat ze elkaar kunnen versterken. Uit de samenwerking kunnen eventueel nieuwe diensten en producten ontstaan, die het gemeenschappelijke doel dienen: wereldwijd het Nederlands promoten en iedereen ondersteunen die de taal wil leren.

De afgelopen maanden heeft toneelgroep Fast Forward op een dertigtal plaatsen in België de theatervoorstelling 'Als ik jou' gebracht. ‘Als ik jou’ laat anderstalige tieners en volwassenen op een wervelende, ontroerende, speelse en interactieve manier kennismaken met een aantal bekende Vlaamse en Nederlandse dichters (o.a. Joke van Leeuwen, Hugo Claus, Bart Moeyaert, Willem Wilmink, Herman de Coninck, Annie M.G. Schmidt ...).

Aanstaande woensdag, 13 januari, staan we met 'Als ik jou' in het CREA Theater in Amsterdam. De voorstelling duurt ongeveer een uur en is geschikt voor studenten Nederlands van alle niveaus (met een minimale basiskennis Nederlands ).
Wie interesse heeft, is erg welkom. Kaartjes kunt u reserveren via het theater zelf.

Er is ook een boekje met alle gedichten, speelse opdrachten én een dvd uitgegeven. Het geheel is bruikbaar in alle niveaus van het Gemeenschappelijk Europees Referentiekader voor vreemde talen. Bovendien is er, zoals steeds, gratis lesmateriaal verkrijgbaar. Stuur even een mailtje via de website Fast Forward terug als u dat wilt ontvangen.

Educational theatre in Dutch

Fast Forward produces Dutch plays that are charming and inviting, thus enhancing the learners emotional envolvement. They also want to introduce (foreign) students of Dutch to the rich cultural life that Belgium and The Netherlands have to offer, and encourage them to participate.

Didactic approach of our educational plays

Fast Forward (re)writes their plays by using the most frequent Dutch words. Everyone who knows a bit of Dutch can (almost) understand everything. To make sure that advanced learners of the language don't find the plays too easy, they don't shy away from subclauses or more difficult sentence structures. That is no problem at all for the audience members whose Dutch is not that advanced yet, because a beginner's 'passive' knowledge of a language is often much more extended than their 'active' knowledge. Besides, their plays are also very visual, and we use synonyms, repeats and reformulations to ensure that even difficult words or phrases are understood in the context.

History and future

Theatre company Fast Forward was established in 2001 by Helga Van Loo, Peter Schoenaerts and Peter Van Kemseke. Their main aim was to produce educational plays for the tens of thousands students of Dutch in Belgium and The Netherlands. 

In recent years Fast Forward has become the biggest producer of educational plays for students of Dutch. We toured Belgium, The Netherlands, Indonesia and the United States.

At the moment they are performing two plays: Hi Ha! and Als ik jou.

Today the Anne Frank House is launching the official Anne Frank Channel on YouTube containing existing and new images about Anne Frank. These include excerpts from interviews with Otto Frank and witnesses like Miep Gies, as well as previews of the virtual museum of the Anne Frank House, soon to be opened to the public. With the Anne Frank Channel on YouTube, people around the world will be able to explore the life and significance of Anne Frank through unique images.

The channel opens with the only existing film footage of Anne Frank, made during the wedding of her neighbor on 22 July 1941. In another film, Nelson Mandela talks about the strength he derived from Anne Frank’s diary during his imprisonment on Robben Island. The channel will also contain a series of new interviews with people who knew Anne Frank personally.

And there’s more. On YouTube, visitors can follow the development of the virtual museum, which will soon enable people to visit the Anne Frank House online. Visitors can watch the ‘making of’ the online secret annex in 3D. The virtual museum will be launched on 28 April 2010 as part of the 50-year anniversary celebrations of the Anne Frank House museum.

Audience projects about Anne Frank

YouTube visitors can subscribe to the Anne Frank Channel. Subscribers will be informed automatically when new films are added. They can also submit their own films on activities about Anne Frank, following the example of the Anne Frank Exhibition in Brazil. The best contributions will be added to the channel.

Mascha Driessen, Head of YouTube and Display Google in the Netherlands: “YouTube is keen to support the project because of the importance of making this content easily available to the wider public. We hope this YouTube channel will help broaden the reach of the Anne Frank House, its educational power and its message of tolerance.”

Since June 4 it is possible to watch the television programmes of www.uitzendinggemist.nl with subtitles. Uitzendinggemist.nl is the united internetchannel of all the public broadcast organisations. This means that you can learn Dutch with daily new videos (with Dutch subtitles). YEAH!

How can you watch them?

1. Go to www.uitzendinggemist.nl and search for a programme.

2. Check if there are Dutch subtitles available for the specific programme (Teletekst ondertiteld).

3. Watch the video and turn on the subtitles (Bekijk met TT888 ondertiteling).

 


Well, this a fairly good news for a lot of frequent 2bdutch visitors. But there is so much available. Which programme should you watch?

Last months we had an excellent intern to support 2bdutch.nl as community manager: Minne van Eekeren. As community manager he managed to provide every day new videos and translations for people to learn Dutch. The database of videos grew due to his efforts. In this months the number of volunteer translators doubled. Even in the late evening and in the early mornings he checked his email to reply to translators. As you can understand, we were very, very happy with this guy. 

Unfortunately last week his internship ended. Minne promised us to stay for a while connected as volunteer. 

As initiator and partner of 2bdutch,  I really want to know everyone, we are very thankful to Minne. Without his help and enhousiasm 2bdutch would have been different over the last monts. Minne thanks!!!

I just read this article in the NY Times.  It's about an American who lived in the Netherlands for one and a half year. First he grumbled about our tax rates, but after a while he also sees the advantages of the Dutch welfare state.

It's a very interesting article which tells a lot about the Dutch culture and the Dutch society.  I can surely recommend you to read it if you want to learn something about the Netherlands!

And for all people who are living in the Netherlands for a while,  I am interested if you recognise what  he is describing.

Dit bericht kreeg ik gisteren doorgestuurd.

Ben je Nederlander? Doe dan mee aan het testen van de online taaltoets!

Dit is dé kans van je leven om twee heel belangrijke dingen te doen:

1. Voor eens en voor altijd weten waar ik mijn scriptie over schrijf.
2. Een bijdrage leveren aan de inburgering van vluchtelingen.

Namelijk, ik heb een online taaltoets gemaakt, als afstudeeropdracht. Het gaat over verstaan in het Nederlands. En ik heb nu 'een paar' (ongeveer 150) moedertaalsprekers van het Nederlands nodig, om de toets te testen.

Als je meedoet, help je de vluchteling en mij! Je krijgt allerlei vragen, twee bijvoorbeeldjes:

Je hoort twee woorden, zijn ze hetzelfde of anders?
Je hoort drie zinnen, in welke zin hoor je het woord 'dragen'?

Het duurt ongeveer 20 minuten en het is leuk om te doen! Tussen 25 mei en 4 juni mag je zelf het tijdstip kiezen. Wat je nodig hebt is internet, en een goede koptelefoon of boxjes, aangezien je veel geluidsfragmentjes gaat horen.

Als je mee wilt doen, laat het even weten , dan stuur ik je t.z.t. de link en een heuse inlogcode. (Je gegevens en scores blijven overigens wel gewoon anoniem.)

Als je niet mee wilt doen, even goede vrienden en/of familie.J
